Captain Sid Hynes

The Captain left his hometown of Harbour Breton at the age of fifteen to begin working as an Assistant Steward with CN Marine, and later studied to become a Master Mariner at the College of Fisheries on the southside of the port. He was a co-founder of Canship Limited in 1986. In 2007, he became an owning partner and the Executive Chairman of Oceanex Inc, the pre-eminent shipping company that serves eastern Canada and carries approximately half of all the freight that is shipped to Newfoundland and Labrador.
