William Rompkey

Mr. Rompkey has served as both Member of Parliament (1972-1995) and Canadian senator (1995-2011). Although born in Belleoram, Fortune Bay, Rompkey has vivid memories of St. John’s in the 1940s and 1950s, when he attended Bishop Field College. He has taken a particular interest in the Canadian and American military occupation of St. John’s harbour during WWII, and is the author of St. John’s and the Battle of the North Atlantic.
